This was our lovely setting for worship on November 13. This year we put together 133 gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Many people worked together so that we could send 133 Christmas boxes to needy children around the world. On November 6 we observed All Saints Sunday by lighting a candle for each member who died during the past year. The CMF had their montly breakfast on November 6. Frog legs was the mystery meat of the month. The church had a reception for Chuck and Bonita for Pastor Appreciation Day on October 30. The CMF had their Boston Butt fundraiser on October 29. The senior adults had a potluck dinner on October 20. The Ohio Valley Strummers entertained our senior adults on October 20. We held our annual electronic recycling event on October 15. We observed World Communion Sunday on October 2. The CMF had their monthly men's breakfast on Oct 2. We had a great team participate in our Fall Mission Trip to Louisville on Oct. 1. We held a Fall Festival at the Christian Community Care facility on our mission trip. Susie Middleton painted the nails of several people on our mission trip. We were able to get the school looking nice prior to the opening day. South Middle School was most grateful. The Myers family donated a new music stand in memory of Alice Myers on July 24. John and Christi Edwards hosted a church BBQ at their home on July 23. We had a great turnout for the church BBQ. Despite the heat, everyone had a good time at the church BBQ. The BBQ gave us a great chance to fellowship with one another. The food at the church BBQ was outstanding! The FCCH Women's Ensemble sang for us on July 17 This was the Pastor's Bible Study class on June 28. The FCCH Ensemble sang for us on June 26. The Senior Saints had a potluck dinner at the church on June 21. The Senior Line Dancers from The Gathering Place joined us for dinner and performed afterwards. The senior adults enjoyed watching the line dancers. The line dancers invited our group to learn a new dance. Robin Sumner played a handbell solo for us on Father's Day, June 19. Noah & Samantha Myers dedicated their son, Lucas Thomas Myers, on June 19. We are in the process of having new carpet laid in the sanctuary. Tori Hester leads us in Bible Trivia. On June 12 we had an Intergenerational Sunday School Gathering and had some great food on hand. We had a good turn out for our June Intergenerational Sunday School Gathering. The kids enjoyed some snacks after swimming. The youth had a swimming party on June 11. The CWF had their quarterly meeting on June 7. Cindy Evans introduced the CWF's guest speaker. The VBS kids gathered for worship twice each day. The kids learned a lot at Cave Quest, this year's VBS theme. Gail Myers and Judy Thomason were in charge of registration at this year's VBS. We were blessed to have some of our youth help out at this year's VBS. This year's Community VBS was held at St. Paul Episcopal Church. Five churches participated. We were able to feed well over 100 people at the Salvation Army on June 4. We had lots of great help at the Salvation Army on June 4. On June 4 a crew gathered to prepare food for our June 5 outreach ministry at the Salvation Army. The church hired our own Tori Hester to be our summer youth worker. A reception for our graduates was held on May 22. These are our 2016 high school and college graduates. The Senior Saints went to the Feed Mill Restaurant in Morganfield to eat lunch on May 17. On Pentecost Sunday, May 15, the Hospitality Committee had special cookies made to help us celebrate "the birth of the church." Several people participated in a fashion show sponsored by Goodys at the Mother/Daughter banquet. The CWF had their annual Mother?Daughter Banquet on May 9. On May 11 the Cookie Brigade delivered baked goods to 3 different groups in our community. The CMF had their monthly men's breakfast on May 1. There was lots to eat at our Family Fun Night on April 24. We had a good turnout for the April 24 Family Fun Night. On April 24 Chuck and Bonita provided the church a meal to celebrate his 60th birthday and 40 years in ministry. Chuck talked to the children on April 24 about how God can give us "new hearts." Susie Middleton sang "Thankful" for our special music on April 24. Sally Bird and Judy Thomason helped restock the pantry for our backpack ministry on April 19. The Senior Saints went to eat at Moonlite Bar-B-Q on April 19. In April we welcomed Tyler Haynes into our church family. On April 16 the 5:35 Alive group got together for a worship service honoring the memory of Lisa Yates. The old praise band was on hand for Lisa's memorial service. On April 8 Stella Davis' family donated her baby grand piano to the church. Chuck was able to preach for the first time following his heart attack on Easter Sunday. On Good Friday we had a joint tenebrae service at Zion UCC. Barbara Chaney was one of our members who helped lead the tenebrae service. On Good Friday the elders once again sponsored a prayer vigil. On March 24 we had our annual Maundy Thursday service. The choir was on hand to sing our our Maundy Thursday service. As part of the Maundy Thursday service we washed one another's hands. Meredith Gold was one of our youth who read scripture at the Maundy Thursday service. The children had their Easter Egg Hunt on March 20. As always we had lots of great food at our Easter Dinner. We had our annual Easter dinner on Palm Sunday. Rick Chandler and Peggy Marable were the narrators for the choir's cantata. The choir did a marvelous job presenting their Easter Cantata on March 20. Alan Emerson played his trumpet for our Palm Sunday opening hymn. The children carried in palm branches on Palm Sunday. It was great having the children help us in worship on Palm Sunday. We had a great turnout of our elders for their workshop on March 19. Dr. Bill McDonald led our Elder's Workshop on March 19. The Cookie Brigade continues to deliver home baked goods each month to some lucky recipient. On March 13 the church added three new deacons and three new junior deacons. Our new deacons are Linda Danheiser, Sue Cagle and Beth Bird. Our new junior deacons are Estie Hazelwood, Emily Bird and Isaac Myers. Our Regional Minister, Greg Alexander, was on hand March 20 to preach and talk to us about what churches can do to grow. Our pastor preached a sermon called "Can God Love Someone Like Me?" at the community Lenten service on Feb. 17. Susie Middleton sang a solo for our community Lenten service. Carolyn Dorsey accompanied Susie Middleton's solo. The CWF did a wonderful job preparing the meal served after the community service. We had a good crowd and a great meal following the service. The CWF and their helpers worked hard for three days preparing to serve the meal for the community service. On February 14 Don and Janetta Lacer were honored for being the couple present married the longest--54 years. FCCH, Community Baptist Church, and Zion UCC met in our sanctuary for a joint Ash Wednesday service on Feb. 10. Despite the bad weather we had a good group gather for the Ash Wednesday service. The FCCH helped to lead us in worship on Ash Wednesday. The Cookie Brigade delivered home baked goods to the Unemployment Office and the Volunteer Information Center on Feb. 8. The Youth had a Super Bowl Party at Chuck and Bonita's home on February 7. The youth had a good time not just watching the Super Bowl but also hanging out together. As part of their Super Bowl Party the youth made cookies. The CMF hosted their annual Sweetheart Breakfast for the church on February 7. We had a good crowd and great food at the CMF Sweetheart Breakfast. Elliot Myers entertained the crowd at the Sweetheart Breakfast. On February 1 Martha Ann Otey delivered the canned goods collected in January to Community Outreach. Terry Cobb, Elliot Myers and Ken Enyart represented us at this year's Kentucky Region Men's Chorus retreat. On January 31 the church gave Bill Aldridge a plaque in gratitude for his service as chairman of the board in 2015. During worship on January 31 Chanda Pfingston and Carolyn Dorsey played a beautiful piano duet for us. Susie Middleton sang "The Lord's Prayer" at the January 29 Day of Prayer for Christian Unity service at Holy Name. We were blessed to be able to ordain three new elders on January 24. Our new elders are Robert Paff, Sandy Freeburger Deitz, and Darrell Wayne. The Pastor's Bible Study groups started a study of the Johannine Epistles on January 19. A representative from Colonial Assisted Living spoke to our Senior Saints on January 19. The Senior Saints had a Bar-B-Que dinner on January 19. The CWF had their annual planning session on January 19, Our board officers for 2016 are Susie Middleton, secretary; Zack Womack, chair; Anita Watkins, vice chair; and Barbara Sprague, treasurer.
